There is a difference between home coffee machines and office coffee machines.
One is they are larger in size. Secondly they are much sturdier. They have a hot water tap to make hot tea or hot cocoa. They are made to be handled roughly by a lot of people.
On the top they have the filter which is made out of paper, so it is more hygienic, that can be thrown away each time it is used. Coffee grinds are put into the basket. Hot water is poured into the basket which brews the coffee, the made coffee then streams into the carafe. Office coffee machines are made bigger so it does not take so much time to brew a pot of coffee.
Some office coffee makers are single cup dispensers too. Instead of a carafe they send out coffee, hot chocolate or tea one cup at a time, thus avoiding the need for a heater.
